The team at Studio Izzo have recently had the privilege of working alongside renowned artist Richard Killeen to ensure one of his large-scale works ('Wish You Were Here', 1979) can travel safely for exhibition.
Comprising 35 painted aluminium pieces, the work required a tailored approach to prevent damage in transit. Drawing on invaluable insights from the artist, we restored the original packaging system designed to protect each element while keeping installation efficient.
The work then travelled to Wellington to be featured in the exhibition 'A Homecoming: Two Major Works Return Home' at McLeavey Gallery (30 Aug – 27 Sep 2025).
This project is a good example of how customised packing solutions can reduce handling risks and improve the long-term care of artworks.
