On May 4th, 2025, Studio Izzo’s Senior Conservator Giulia Scott joined an expert panel at the Aotearoa Art Fair as part of Let’s Talk Art, a series of conversations presented by Aon. The session explored a central question: Every artwork has a story—but how do you ensure that story lasts for generations?

It was lively discussion bringing together experts to explore the art of protecting and managing collections, from practical conservation tips to navigating risks. With real-world examples from well-known New Zealand artists, the panel shared insider advice on keeping artworks safe, whether they’re on display at home or part of a larger collection.

Alongside panellists Madeleine Gifford (University of Auckland) and moderator Ben Ashley (Aon NZ), Giulia shared insights from her decade of experience in conservation — from practical advice for collection care to examples of real-world challenges faced in preserving works by well-known New Zealand artists.

The discussion was warmly received by collectors, curators, and art lovers, highlighting the increasing relevance of conservation in both private and institutional settings. Studio Izzo is proud to have contributed to a conversation that not only celebrated art, but the care it requires to last.
